JABSOM Medical Diagnosis and Treatment Summer Program

July 8-12, 8 am - 3:30 pm

Considering a career in health care? During this week-long summer program at the UH John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), take part in gross anatomy laboratory demonstrations, clinical skills laboratories, computerized manikin simulations, and standardized patient interactions. You’ll learn how to:

  • describe the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses common in Hawaii

  • perform basic clinical skills such as measuring vital signs and listening to the heart and lungs with stethoscopes

  • interview and counsel patients

Please go to for program and registration information. The deadline to register is June 1st. (A few scholarships are available for students who attend Title I schools in Hawaii. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is April 30th.)

2019 Commencement Ceremony

Date: Friday, May 24, 2019

Time: 5:00pm

Place: Ka'u District Gym

Entry: By ticket only - Each person needs their own ticket and present it upon entering

(To honor the graduates entering the gym, door closes at 5:00pm; late entries will need to wait until all graduates have entered the gym and seated.)

For the safety of everyone and to ensure a pleasant ceremony, please adhere to the following:

1. Please leave all signs, leis and baby strollers in your vehicle.

2. Please refrain from bringing in or using artificial noise makers such as air horns, conch shells, cow bells or whistles.

3. Balloons are not allowed in the facility.

4. Please remain seated for the duration of the ceremony.

5. No food or drinks allowed in the gym including candy or gum.
