Symptom: The Xerox is out of something.


  • Paper? Talk to the office or the Tech Coordinator to get more paper put into the machine(s). If you're wondering why MS and HS do not allow teachers to handle paper directly, it's because years of experience has shown us teachers will not fill paper trays, and instead will only put in anywhere between 1 piece of paper (seriously) to one ream, instead of the 6 reams a machine holds. This causes massively accelerated wear and tear on paper trays, as teachers would open and close them to put a paper or two in many, many, many, many, many, many, many times a day. However, please ensure the machine is actually out of paper, and not the far more common issue of one tray being out of paper and your print/copy job being set specifically to that one tray. In 1.5 years, the Xerox machines have truly been out of paper less than 10 times. 
  • Toner? Talk to the office or the Tech Coordinator, BUT ensure it's actually saying Toner, and not Toner Waste Container. These are two completely different things, and if you're itching to get your print job done, you're just increasing the time it takes to get a machine back up and running if you somehow mix these two very different things with dramatically different letter lengths up. 
  • Any other supplies the Xerox machines are saying needs replacement? Talk to the Tech Coordinator.
